Deed from Lemuel BUSHNELL to Thomas BUCKINGHAM
To all People to whom these Presents shall come Greeting; Know ye that I, Lem' BUSHNELL of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of Eighty six Pounds Currant money of said Colony to me in hand paid by Thomas BUCKINGHAM of Say-Brook aforesaid, have granted and conveyed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Thomas BUCKINGHAM his heirs and assigns forever Sixteen acres of land on the Southwestern end of Viney Hill in Potopague Quarter in Say-Brook aforesaid and is bounded Northerly partly on Isaac PRATT's land as it is now enclosed with a fence and then Easterly on lands of the heirs of Caleb PRATT Dec'd until it comes to ye Southwest corner of it, and then a five rod Northward upon said land and then easterly on my own land and Southward and westward on the highway that leads to Lt. CLARK's farm and to said Isaac PRATT;s land and is to extend so far Eastward as to make up the full Quantity of Sixteen acres.
To have and to hold the above granted & bargained premises with ye appurtenances thereof unto hi the said Thomas BUCKINGHAM his heirs & assigns forever to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said Lemuell BUSHNELL do for myself my heirs executors and administrators covenant with the said Thomas BUCKINGHAM his heirs and assigns that at and until the ensealing of these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.
And furthermore I the said Lemuell BUSHNELL do by these presents Bind myself my heirs forever to Warrant and Defend ye above granted and bargained premises to him ye said Thomas BUCKINGHAM his heirs and assigns forever against all all claims and demands Whatsoever.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 29th day of December AnnoQue Domini 1740.
