Deed from Robert BATE to Jared SPENCER
Know all men by these presents that I Robert BATE of Saybrook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England (Smith for & in Consideration of ye sum of thirty pounds money to me in hand paid by Mr Jared SPENCER of said Saybrook ye Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therewith fully satisfied & Contented have given granted Bargained sold and by these presents Do fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene Convey and Confirm unto him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs & assigns for ever a Certain tract of upland & meadow adjoining containing about five acres more or less Bounded East & South on five mile river West on Creek North on said SPENCER's Land. To have & To Hold all and singular ye above granted & bargained premises with all the appurtainances privileges & Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever to his & their only proper use Benefit & Behoof forever & ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by force & vertue of these presents lawfully peaceably & quietly have hold use Occupie possess & enjoy ye said Demised & Bargained premises with the appurtainances free & clear & freely and Clearly acquitted Exonerated & Discharged of from all & all manner of former or other gifts grants bargains, sales leases mortgages Wills entails Judements Executions Incumbrances Executions & Extents furthermore I ye said Robert BATE for myself my heirs Executors & administrators Do Covenant & Ingage the above Demised premises to him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs & assigns against the lawfull Claims & Demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure & Defend,
