Deed from Robert BATE to Sergt. James POST

Know all men by these presents that I Robert BATE of SayBrook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England (Smith) for & in Consideration of ye Sum of Twenty pound money to me in hand paid by Sergt. James POST of Saybrook aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself there with satisfied and contented have given granted Bargained Sold & by these presents do freely & absolutely give grant Bargain sell aliene Convey & Confirm unto him ye s'd Sergt. James POST his heirs & assigns forever Two acres precisely of meadow cituate lying & being in Oyster River Quarter in Say-Brook aforesaid at a place known by ye name of Manuse quatesuck Bounded as followeth viz: west on DUNK's & CHALKER's meadow South on y Beach, East on an old Ditch & so running Northward parallel with s'd old Ditch and the creek Dividing between s'd DUNK's & CHALKER's meadow & said two acres until it included s'd Two acres.

To Have and To Hold ye said granted & bargained premises with all the appurtenances privileges & Commodities to ye same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him ye said James POST his heirs & assigns forever to his & their only proper use benefit & behoofe forever and the said James POST his heirs and assigns shall & may by force & vertue of these presents Have Hold use occupie possess & Injoy the said Demised & Bargained premises with ye appurtenances from hence forth & forever free & freely & clearly acquitted Exonerated & Discharged of from all & all manner of gifts grants bargains Sales and of & from all other Incumbrances whatsoever & furthermore I ye said Robt. BATE for me my heirs Executors and administrators to promise and Ingage ye above Demised and bargained premises with ye appurtenances to him the said James POST his heirs & assigns against the lawfull claims & Demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure & Defend.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this nineteenth day of June in ye thirteenth year of his Majesties Reign Anno Domini 1727
