Deed from Jonathan BATES to Daniel ATWOOD

Know all men by these presents that I Jonathan BATES of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in new England for and in consideration of the sum of Eight five Pounds money to me in hand paid by Daniel ATWOOD of Saybrook in the County aforesaid have given granted and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell alienne sell convey and confirm unto him the said Daniel ATWOOD his heirs and assigns forever Two hundred and fifty five pound right in a certain tract of land lying in the Township of Say-Brook aforesaid at Pataconke included in the Two miles (So Called) and belonging to the Sixth Division Lott or the Six Lott of the Division of said grant of land now lying in Common amoung the rest of the Proprietors of Lott which lot was laid out for one hundred acres for allowance for size together with all my right, title interest and claim and in and to said lot or tract of land be the same more or less.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances and commodities to the same belongin or in any wise appertaining to him the said Daniel ATWATER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and behoof. And I the said Jonathan BATE before the ensealing hereof do avouch myself to be the sole owner of the abovesaid demised premises and have in myself good right and lawful power to bargain and sell the same in Manner and form as is above written and do hereby for myself my heirs executors and administrators covenant and promise to and with the said Daniel ATWOOD his heirs and assigns forever that he and they shall and may at all times forever hereafter have hold use occupy and possess and enjoy the above demised & bargained premises with all the appurtenances free and clear of all incumbrances whatsoever, that shall any ways obstruct or make void this present deed.

And furthermore I the said Jonathan BATE for myself my heirs executors and administrators promise and ingage the above demised premises with the appurtenances to him the said Daniel ATWOOD his heirs and assigns against all claims whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend;

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4th, of May A.D. 1742, in ye fifteenth year of his Majesties Reign.
