Whereas you Robert CHAPMAN have been for some time past Chosen and appointed Clerk or Register of Oyster River quarter in the Town of Saybrook & yet continued in the same office: you swear that you have heithertoo truly & faithfully discharged your duty therein and that for the future you truly and faithfully attend & execute the same for the s'd Quarter according to yo'r best skill, and make Entry of all such grants, Deeds of sale or of Gift: quarter voates: mortgages, and alienations of Lands as shall be completed according to Law: and of all other Writings & agreements as shall shall be brought to you to Record: and that you will grant and Deliver Two Coppies of the Records in your hands: When they shall be Required of you: Taking only yo'r appointed ffees, so help you God &c.

Saybrook the 31st day of July 1704: The above mentioned Oath was administered unto & taken by me Robert CHAPMAN aforesaid to the office of Register &c: the day above by and before me: Daniell TAYLER Justice

To all whom these presents may concern Greeting: Know yee that we whose names are under Written, being of the Committee Chosen by the Proprietors of Oyster River Quarter to lay out needful highways as well for Common Roads or Kings Highways as for the use & benefit of the Proprietors in Generall & in P'rticular together with their "reticular Rights and and proportions, we do declare & testify that ye ?? of our discharge we allowed an open highway from Oyster River Bride throughout Oyster River Quarter unto Kennellworth Bounds & it was Laid out through the Land John JORDAN hath taken in at the Northwest Corner unto Tho DUNK's Land & through his Land and Mr. GREENALL's unto the old bridge upon Pochague River & from thence to the afores'd Bounds.

This Indenture of Sale made the Seventeenth Day of ffebruary in the ffourtenth year of his Majesties Reign William the Third King of England Scotland france and Ireland Defender of the faith &c. Between Abraham WATROUS jun'r at Say-Brook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England merchant on the one Part and John HOBSON of Say=Brook in the County and Colonie aforesaid on the other part. Witnesseth that the said Abraham WATROUS for divers good causes and Considerations him thereunto moving, and especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Ten pounds in Currant Silver money of this Collony in hand Received by me the said Abraham WATROUS of and from the said John HOBSON the Receit whereof I doe hereby acknowledge and my Selfe there with fully Satisfied and Contented: Have Bargained Sold given granted alienated Enfeoffed made over and Confirmed And doe by these presents Bargain Sell give grant alienate Enfeoff make over and Confirme unto the said John HOBSON his heirs Exeuctors Administrators or assigns One thousand acre Right or a fourth part of the Land Bequeathed to me by Robert LAY Sen'r, Late of Say-Brook deceased by Joshua Sachem in his Last Will and Testament in which Will the Whole Legacie is expressed to be four Thousand acres, be the quantity of the said fourth part as to number of acres more or less as it shall fall by Lott unto him the said John HOBSON, or as the Committe Chosen or to be Chosen among the said Joshua's Legatees belonging to Saybrook or else where shall a lott it or lay it out as a Thousand acre Right, or a fourth part of said Legatee in said Joshua's Will be it for number of acres more or less which said Thousand acre Right I the said Abraham WATROUS purchased of Robert LAY of Saybrook aforesaid Son and heir to the abovesaid Robert LAY deceased as will appear by the Records of Say-Brook.

To have and to Hold from the day of the date hereof, all and singular the foresaid Bargained Lands with all the rights Commonages Privileges and all manner of advantages and Benefits thereunto Belonging or in any wise appertaining as a Thousand acre Right or a fourth part of the said Legatee unto the said John HOBSON his heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever free and clear from all former charges

Whatsoever to the day of the date hereof and that the said John HOBSON his heirs Executors administrators or assigns shall quietly and peacefully possess and Enjoy the said Land without the lett Suit disturbance, Eviction, Ejection or denyall of me the said Abraham WATROUS or any other person or persons by from or under mee or by means or procurement.

In Witness whereof and in Confirmation of the afore Bargained premises I the said Abraham WATROUS have hereunto Sett and affixed my hand and Seall the day and year above written Annoq. Domini 171/2 [should be 1701/2]

John BULL from Samuell CHALKER

Know all men by these presents that I Samuell CHALKER of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Coloney of Connecticut in New England for a valuable Consideration That is to say Six pound in Current money in New England in hand Received att the Ensealing and Delivery hereof I have Bargained Sold Enfeoffed and Confirmed and doe by these presents Bargaine, Sell, Enfeoff and Confirme unto John BULL of Saybrook aforesaid a Certaine Parcell of meadow being by Estimation one acre and a half and fifty rod be it more or less lieing and being in the Township of Say-Brook at a place Commonly called the upper Plantingfield. Being bounded Eastward upon the Cove Commonly Called the North Cove, Southward upon the meadow of the said John BULL, bought of James & Elizabeth FFITZGERALD. Westward upon the land of Thomas DUNK, and Northward upon the meadow of Stephen POST bought of Samuell CHALKER, which percell of meadow together with all the Privileges and appurtenances there unto belonging I doe acknowledge to have sold and Efeoffed unto said John BULL and his heires administrators and assigns to have hold and Possesse and enjoy for Ever without any lett or molestation from me my heirs administrators or assigns for Ever. Or any from by or under me or them and doe by these presents avouch my Self to have full power to make this conveyance and doe Ingage my selfe my heirs administrators and assigns to vindicate the same against all Persons whatsoever and unto the true performance of the Premises to the said John BULL his heirs and assigns forever. I doe bind myself my heirs Executors administrators and assigns, as Witness my hand and Seal this fourth day of June One thousand & Seven hundred alias 1700.

This Indenture made the eleventh day of December in the twelfth year of the Reign of Our Soveraign Lord William the Third of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland King &c. Between Robert LAY of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England Husbandman on the one part and Ensign John PRATT of Saybrook in the County and Colony aforesaid Black-Smith on the other part, Witnesseth that the said Robert Lay for divers good Causes and Considerations him thereunto moving: and Especailly for and in Consideration of the sum of six pounds and Eight shillings in Currant provision pay of this Colloney, the Receit whereof I doe hereby acknowledge and of every part and parcell thereof fully acquit and discharge the said Ensign John PRATT his heirs Executors administrators and assigns by these presents: Have Bargained Sold given granted alienated infeoffed and Confirmed and doe by these presents Bargain Sell give grant alienate infeoff and Confirme: unto the said Ensign John PRATT his heirs Executors administrators and assigns ffour acres of Land Lieing and being at Potopauge Belonging to Saybrook. Being bounded northward with the Lands of the said Robert LAY Eastward and Southward with the highways and westward with the Lands of Sergent William PRATT bought of the said Robert LAY. To have and to hold all and singular the afore Bargained ffour acres of land Woods underwoods, privelliges and appurtenances there unto belonging or appertaining unto the said Ensign John PRATT his heirs Executors administrators and assigns and to his and their sole and only use benefit and behoofe forever, ffree and Clear from all other or former Bargains, Sales guifts grants alienations tytles Dowries Claims demands and Incumbrances whatsoever and I said Robert LAY for me heirs Executors and administrators shall and will now and at all times hereafter Warrant defend and maintain all and every the afore Bargained Premises unto the said Ensign John PRATT his heirs and assigns against all persons or persons Whatsoever their Claims and demands and the said Robert LAY doe by these presents give unto the said Ensign John PRATT full possession, seacin and delivery of the aforesaid Land; and in Confirmation thereof, I the said Robert LAY have to these presents set my hand and seall the day and year above written Anoq Domini 1700

Deed from John TULLY Senior to his Loving Son William TULLEY

To all People &c.: I, John TULLY Sen'r of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Coloney of Connecticutt in New England send Greeting: Know ye that I the said John TULLEY Sen'r as well for and in Consideration of the Natturall affection and Love which I have and bear unto my Loving Son William TULLEY of Say-Brook aforesaid as also for other good Causes and Considerations me att this present Especially moving, Do by these presents after my decease Give grant and Confirm unto the said William TULLEY a Certain parcell of Land Lying and being in Say-Brook in the field Commonly Called the Calves pasture being by Estimation Eight acres of upland and meadow be it more or less, Being Bounded Southward with the highway Westward by the Land of Ebenezer INGHAM Northward by the Creek and Eastward by the Land of Thomas DUNK; Also after mine and my wives decease I doe give unto my Son William TULLEY the one halfe of my Land in the Planting ffield according to the Quantity thereof, Reserving to my selfe out of the halfe for after disposal a Certain parcell of meadow with a pent Cart highway to it Being by Estimation near about Three acres Lyeing upon the East and South East part of the upland next the Cove and Creek Running Southwestward to a small gutter that Runs into the Creek which is the bounds thereof also after my decease I doe give unto my Son William TULLEY halfe my my Right in the Town Commons of Saybrook and allso halfe of that Land which was given to me by Joshua the Indian Sachen:

To Have and to Hold after my decease all and singular the aforesaid parcells of Land Together with the one halfe of my Land in the Planting field after my decase and my wives, with their Rights and Severall proportions of ffence and other appurtenances to Each of them belonging unto the said William TULLEY his heirs Exeuctors administrators or assigns forever ffree and Clear from all Incumbrances, Debts, Dues or Demands Whatsoever, and I doe hereby declare that abovesaid Land in the Planting ffield that I doe give unto my Son William TULLEY and his heirs &c: after my decease and my Wives: I mean the one halfe there of that I doe give him as above specified is to be laid out on the Easter side or part of my Planting ffield Lott and to be bounded Northward by the highway Eastward partly by the Cove and partly by the meadow above Specified Southward by the Creek and westward by the East of my land in the aforesaid Planting ffield and if my son William TULLEY his Heirs Executors or Administrators shall see Cause to sell or dispose of all or any of the afore mentioned Land that then his nearest Relatives shall have the first offer and tender of it att a Reasonable price that another will give; and in Consideration of my son William Tulley Erecting and seting up houses which is in framing in the Land before mentioned Called the Calves Pasture, I the said John TULLEY Sen'r doe give to my said son William TULLEY the one half of the said Land ffronting the highway now in present Possession: and the Remainder of said Land after my decease as above I also give leave to my son William TULLEY to take away and Remove his shop wherein he works at what time he pleases.

Know all men by these presents that I, William ELY now resident in Saybrook in the Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in Consideration of a deed of sale bearing date with these presents wherein my father Mr. Richard ELY hath bargained alienated and sold to me and my heirs forever a house with the appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and being on the great Island in the river of Piscaltaquah as by the said deed more fully appears I, the said William ELY do by these presents bargaine and sell to my said father all my interest claim and title in five tenements with all there appurtenances lying and being in Plimouth in Old England at a place there by the new Church Caled Hamptonshut to have and to hold the same forever to sell alien or other wise dispose of the same as he my said father pleaseth without any let let hinderence or molestation by me or any in or under or by me allso in Consideration of the premises I do acknowledge myself fully satisfied of the sume of fifty pounds which my said father owed me on account.

In Witness whereof I the said William ELY have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of May one thousand six hundred and sixty and eight.

The mark that Joshua POST puts on his Creatures is a cop of the near ear and a swallows tail in the off. Ear and a half penny on the under side said off or right ear.

Bought of John WESTALL December the 24th -69. a parsill of upland and meadow all that did formerly belong to Jonathan RUDD lying and being in the thousand ackers and bounded on the South and west by the lands of Thomas DUNKS and on the east by the highway going to the Corn field allso bounded on the north by the meadow of John WESTALL

Lands bought of John HILL by Joseph INGHAM.

Three ack. of upland lying and being in the planting field abuting east to the lands of Will JACKSON South to the highway and west to the lands of Will PARKER north to the swamp.

Received ye 12th of May 1719.

We ye subscribers by virtue of power given to us by ye proprietors of Oyster River Quarter have laid out to Dec'n CHAPMAN of Saybrook three pieces of land within ye aforesaid Quarter & on West of ye great Cedar Swamp, one piece of land lyes on ye north end end of a piece of land formerly laid out to Joseph CHAPMAN, its in length East & west 80 rod at the Westend its 40 rod at the east end its 73 rod ye N. west Corner & ye Southwest corner are white oake trees ye south East & N. East Corners are maple Trees in this bounds there is twenty eight acres & eighty rod. Ye 2d piece of land laid out on ye East side of ye aforesaid CHAPMAN's land & is in length 70 rod north and south at ye South end its 42 rod ye north east corner a beach tree ye Northwest Corner are two white oak trees standing In ye line of Joseph CHAPMAN's Land, ye south west corner is a dog wood tree which is ye Southeast Corner of Joseph CHAPMAN's land in these bounds there is twenty two acres 7 sixty eight rods, ye 3d piece of land is laid out on ye South end of said Joseph CHAPMAN's its length is East & West 80 rods at ye West end & East end its 38, rod ye N. west & N. east Corners are ye south east & Southwest Corners of ye land of ye aforesaid Joseph CHAPMAN ye South east & South west corners of ye land now laid out is Wallnut trees, all which trees are marked & stones laid at ye root of them in these bounds there is nineteen acres so in the whole there is seventy acres, and is laid out on a half hundred pound Right which ye aforesaid Deac CHAPMAN bought of John STANNARD originally belonging to Col George FENWICH and half a hundred pound right bought of Robert BATE & ye rest of ye right was originally belonging to Capt. Robert CHAPMAN and Lieut Thomas TRACY these three pieces aforesaid lyes for 70 acres fourth Division Land which was forty acres to the hundred pound right laid out by us

To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know yee That I James WRIGHT of Saybrook in the County of New London & Colonie of Connecticut in New England yeoman for Divers good Causes me thereunto moveing & more especially for a valuable Consideration to me in hand paid before the Ensealing & Delivery hereof The Receipt whereof I the s'd James WRIGHT Do hereby acknowledge & myself there with fully Contented & satisfied Have given granted Bargained sold alienated Conveyed made over & Confirmed & by these presents Do freely fully & absolutely, give, grant, Bargain, sell alien Convey make over & Confirm unto my son James WRIGHT of the same Town Country & Colonie above s'd his heirs Executors administrators & assigns a Certain Tract of upland & meadow Containing by estimation one hundred & Twenty acres be it more or less lying & being within the Township of Say-Brook except a small part of the Northwest Corner by the Bridge which Lyes within the Township of Killingworth I the County & Colonie aboves'd The s'd Land is Lying by the dividing line of Say-Brook & Killingworth & is bounded as followeth fiz: att the Northwest Corner it is bounded by the River Commonly Called Mommucatecel River & from thence Runneth Southerly by the Country Road six Rods to a stake with stones aboute it from thence Runneth Southeast or thereabouts thirty Two Rods where there is another stake with stones about it & from that stake it Runneth a little more Easterly to a Chestnut Tree that standeth in the Dividing Line

Between Say-Brook & Killingworth The Distance between the said stake & Tree is about Eighteen Rods & from the fores'd Tree it Runneth Southerly one hundred Twenty & four Rods to a small Walnut Tree marked on two sides viz: East & North & from that walnut Tree it Runneth Easterly Sixty Eight Rods to a stake with stones aboute it by the meadow side & from thence it continues a straight Line to the River where there is a stake by the mouth of a small Creek that Runs into the River & Easterly & Northerly it is bounded with the afores'd Mammicalisick River & meadow Belonging to James WRIGHT Jun'r & Westerly & Southerly by the Common highway & the upland & meadow of James WRIGHT Sen'r as also all my Right Title, Claim, Interest & Priviledge which I the s'd James WRIGHT have or formerly or hereafter might or should have in & unto all the Commons or any Divisions of s'd Commons or out lands within the Township Properly or of Right belonging to the s'd land. To all People to whome these presents shall Come Greeting &c Know yee that I Robert LAY of Say Brook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England Tailor for and in Consideration of a parcel of land made over to me by a Deed of sale bering Date with these presents from under the hand and Seal of John INGHAM of Say-Brook afores'd the Receipt whereof do acknowledge and myself fully satisfied and Contented and of every part and parcell thereof Do exonerate acquit and discharge the said John INGHAM his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever by these presents Have given, granted, exchanged Conveyed and Confirmed unto him the s'd John INGHAM and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant exchange Convey and Confirm unto him the s'd John INGHAM a Division of land belonging to a fifty pounds Right in Oyster River Quarter on the Township of Say-brook in the County of New London aboves'd which Division is Twenty acres according to s'd Quarter agreement and is called a Divison of mowable, arable, and pasture land. To Have and to hold the s'd granted and Bargained premises with all the appurtances priviledges and Commodities the same belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said John INGHAM his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and behoof forever and I the said Robert LAY for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do promise and grant to and with ye s'd John INGHAM his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the lawfull owner of the above Bargained premises and have in myself full power and lawfull authority to grant exchange convey and confirm s'd granted and Bargained premises in manner as above said and that the s'd John INGHAM his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by forece and vertue of these presents lawfully and quietly have hold use occupie possess and Injoy the s'd demised and bargained premises with all the appurtenances free and clear and Clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of an from all manner of other gifts sales, leases, mortgages or Incumbrances whatsoever furthermore I the said Robert LAY for myself my heirs executors and administrators do Covenant promise and grant the above Demised premises to him the said John INGHAM his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend furthermore I the said Robert LAY do oblige myself my heirs executors and administrators Do promise and Ingage to and with the said John INGHAM his heirs and assigns to give a more full and ample deed if there be occasion.
