Know all men by these presents that I Samuell WILLARD of Saybrook in the County of New London and Collony of Connecticut in New England for myselfe and in Behlfe of my Wife my heirs Executors, administrators: Have Remised, Released and for ever Quit-Cliame: and doe by these presents Remitt Quit-Cliame Release unto my Loving Brother Lieut John CLARK of Saybrook aforesaid His His heirs Executors administrators all and all manner of actions Suits Bills Bonds Writings Obligaory Debts dues duties Douries Portions accompts sum and sums of money: Judements Executions Extents Quarrells Controversies Trespasses Damages Legasies and all other Demands Whatsoever Both in Law or Equity or otherwise howsoever which against my Loving Brother Lt. John CLARK I ever had now have or shall have or may Calime Challenge or demand toughing or Relating to the Estate of Our Honoured father and father in Law Mr. John CLARK Late of Say-Brook Deceased or to my s'd Brother John CLARK his son as administrator to the s'd Estate or for or by Reason of any matter Caluse or thing from the Beginning of the World unto the date of the Date hereof.

The Land of Capt. John CLARK at Potopauge Quarter
Wee whose names are hereunto subscribed being Measurers of land for the Proprietors of Potopauge Quarter have by the Desire of John CLARK of Saybrook One of the Proprietors of the said Quarter Laid out one piece or Parcell of Land of 28 acres adjoining to Land formerly Laid out to him s'd John CLARK by us att a place well known or Called by the name of Muddy River within the aboves'd Quarter of Potopauge the Land Last Laid out doth lie on the South End. And on Each flank or side of ye Land formerly Laid out to him s'd CLARK The Northwest Corner is a White Oake being fallen & so to the muddy River: The south west Corner is a small Black Oake Tree Standing on ye West of a Swamp or Brook Leaving Some Part of ye s'd swamp to ye South of s'd Tree: So Leaving a highway Between ye hill on the West side of s'd Land, The South East Corner is great Black Oake Tree both of the Trees are marked with J.C.: & Stones Laid at the Root of the Same: this being Laid out as part of 100 £ Right as Pasture & Earrable & mowable Lands & that we doe thus approve of ye Same Wee the Subscribers doe desire & give Libertie to the Recorder of the above s'd Quarter of Potopauge to Record the s'd Land to him ye s'd Clark & to his heirs or assigns for ever as Wittness our hands No. ye 17, 1702. March ye 21st 1704: Wee whose names are hereunto subscribed being desired by John CLARK of Say-Brook to Lay out some Land in Potopauge Quarter within the Bounds of Say Brook afore s'd. The Land now Laid out is in Two pieces or parcels. The first is Laid out to the south of Mr. John PARKER's Land Lying at a place cald Beaver pond the northeast Corner of the afores'd PARKER's Land. Being a small Black Oake marked with J. _ & stones Layed att the Root of it from thence it Runs Westward to a White Oake standing ??prospect Hill from thence ?? southward to a small Chestnut Standing upon prospect Hill both of which Trees are marked with J. C. & stones Layed att the Roots of them, from thence it Runs Eastward to a Stubb which is the southeast Corner & is near the path y't goes between Mr. John WHITTLESEY's Land and that which is Called Beaver pond. & Stons round the fores'd Stubb from thence it Runs Northerly to ye black oake stadle first mentioned: In which bounds there is Twenty Eight acres of Land & is Laid out for a hundred pound Right wanting two acres; as third division or mowable Errable or pasture Lands which Land lies in Potopauge Quarter; the white Oak Tree is the Northwest Corner: The Chestnut Tree is the Southwest Corner Laid out by us William PARKER, Nathaniell PRATT, measurueres of Land for the above Quarter in Liber A & in page 5-6.
March ye 21st 1703/4: Then ye Subscribers Layed out for John CLARK of Saybrook one piece or parcel of Land Lying partly upon the hill Called Walnut Hill & partly to ye Eastward, The Land is thus Bounded. The Northeast Corner is a Walnut Tree standing upon or among a parcel of Rocks which Tree is marked with J. C. & stands to south of s'd CLARK's stone fence or Land formerly Laid out Twelve or 16 Rod from thence it Runs Eighty rod to two small Birch Trees standing upon some Rocks which Trees spring out of one Root, from thence it Runs Westerly seventy six Rod to a black Oake which stands to the West of a small swamp about Ten or 12 Rod which is the Southwest Corner, from thence it Runs Northerly to a White Oake Eighty rods Which is the Northwest Corner, from thence it Runs Easterly Sixty Rod to ye walnut Tree first mentioned all which Trees are marked with J. C. & stones Laid att the Roots of them: In which Boundarys Thirty four acres & is Laid out as third division or Errable or pasture Land which 34 acres make y't Land formerly Layed out to south of ye s'd CLARK's farm att ?? River & y't was Laid out this day at Bever pond being 28 acres in which 3 parcells or pieces of Land there is Ninety acres: & is Laid for the 300th right which Right belonged to Mr. John CLARK Sen'r and Jun'r deceased & That we have thus done we significtly setting to our hands the day aboves'd

Deed from John CHAPMAN of Haddam to Captain John CLARK
To all People to whom these presents shall Come Greeting: Know ye that I John CHAPMAN of Haddam on the East Side of the River, In the County of Hartford and in the Colony of Connecticut in New England; ffor divers good Causes and Considerations mee thereunto moving: and Especially for and in Consideration of the Sume of Sixty Pounds in Currant Silver money of the Colony to me in hand before Ensealing and Delivery hereof Well and truly paid by Captaine John CLARK of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Colony afores'd Merchant: The Receipt Whereof I doe hereby acknowledge and myselfe therewith ffully satisfied and Contented and hereof and of Every and parcell thereof doe Exonerate acquitt and discharge the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs Executors, administrators and assigns forever by these Presents Have given granted Bargained Sold Alienated. Conveyed. and Confirmed and by these Presents Doe ffreely ffully and absolutely: Give Grant. Bargain. Sell. Alienate Convey and Confirme unto him the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever a Certaine Lott or Tract of Land in Say-Brook aforesaid Lying and being in the heether? Planting field Containing by Estimation Twelve acres be it more or less: Butted and Bounded Northerly and Easterly by the North Cove. Southerly upon the highway and Westerly upon the Land of William BUSHNELL Sen: and also another tract or parcell of meadow Land Lying in the Boundaries of Saybrook aforesaid: In a Certaine place Commonly Caled and known by the name of the plumb Bank meadows Containing by Estimation ffive acres be it more or less Butted and Bounded Northerly by the Meadow Land of Capt. Samuell JONES Easterly with the with the meadow of John PARKER Sen'r: Southerly by the Sea: and Westerly by the meadow of Thomas NORTON Sen'r:
To Have and to hold all and singular the afore granted and Bargained Premises in the said Two parcells of upland and meadow with all the appurtenances, Privilleges Benefitts Profitts and Commodities to each and Either of these belonging or in any wise appertaining to hime the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs, Executors administrators and assigns for ever To his and their sole only Proper use benefitt and behoofe for ever.
And I the said John CHAPMAN for me my heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns Doe Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs and assigns That before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole and Lawfull owner of all and every the above Bargained Premises and am lawfully seized and Possessed of the same in my own Proper Right as a good perfect and absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple; and have in my selfe good Right full Power and Lawfull authority To grnat Bargain Seel Convey and Confirm said Bargained Premises in manner as above said And that the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns shall and may from time to time and att all times forever hereafter by force and virtue of these Presents Lawfully and peaceably and quietly have hold use occupie and injoy the said demised and conveyed Premises with all their and every of their appurtenances ffree and Clear and ffreely and Clearly acquitted, Exonerated and discharged form all and all manner of former and other guifts grants Bargains Sales Leases Mortgages, Wills, Entails Joynters Dowries, Judements, Executions, Incumbrances and Extents, and I the said John CHAPMAN for myselfe my heirs Executors and administrators Doe Covenant and Ingage all and Every the above demises premises to him the said Capt. John CLARK his heirs, Executors administrators and assigns against the Lawfull Claims or demands of any Person or Persons Whatsoever, for ever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend: And I the said John CHAPMAN for me my heirs and Executors and administrators By these presents Doe give and doe deliver up full and free Possession Seizin and delivery of all and every the afore Bargained Premises with all the appurtenances To the said Captain CLARK his heirs and assigns forever According to the tenor above mentioned.

Deed of Exchange Between Joseph CHAPMAN and His Uncle, Robert CHAPMAN and Family Records
Know all men By these presents: That I Joseph CHAPMAN of Saybrook in the County of New London and Collony of Connecticut in Consideration of an upon the account of an Exchange of Land with my honourd uncle Mr. Robert CHAPMAN which he Bought of Joshua BUSHNELL which Land is Bounded north upon the Highway: East and South upon the Lands formerly belonging to Capt. Robert CHAPMAN & West upon the lands of said BUSHNELL which s'd Land runs from the Highway North & South to the aforesaid Lands. Being about forty five Rod in Length & fifteen Rods in breadth at the North End & Seventeen Rod in Breadth at the South End thereof According to an Instrument and Deed Signed Over to me at the Sealing hereof Being about four Acres and half with which I am satisfied & content. Have Bargained Sold, Enfeofed and Confirmed and Doe by these presents Bargain, Sell, Enfeofe and Confirm unto my said uncle Mr. Robert CHAPMAN Eight acres of land in the fishing Brook plain in Oyster River Quarterly Being thirty rods in breadth at both Ends: The Length whereof is nearest East & West forty-four Rods: Onely a reserve of Passage through sd Land with or for Horse & Team not open but part nor for Common drawing: Next to Joshua BUSHNELL's Land ffrom me the s'd Joseph CHAPMAN my heirs Executors, administrators and assigns: To him the s'd Robert CHAPMAN his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever to hold Occupie, Posses and quietly to Injoy without any Lett Incumbrance or molestation form me or mine or from under me or by mine or their procurement Together with all the Buildings and appurtenances there unto Belonging or in any Wise appertaining Warranting s'd Land against all Claims Titles or former Bargains Sales or Mortgages or Incumbrances before the Date hereof.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal This Last of february one thousand Six Hundred Ninety & nine or Seventeen Hundred. Moreover I the s'd Joseph CHAPMAN have given, granted Sold Alienated and made over unto my said uncle Robert CHAPMAN one acre more of Land aJoyning unto the s'd upon the South Side to run the same Length the s'd Land as above & this Last acre is upon the account & in Consideration Perticular account Between my said uncle & my Selfe: and this Last to be under the same Reason, Circumstances within & to be under the same Tennour as the former for both Title, Continuance and freedom as further Wittness my hand the Day and Date above written

This Indenture of Sale made the Twenty first Day of January in the second year of the Reign of Our Soveraign Lady Ann Queen of England &c Between Nicholas STOUGHTON of Saybrook in the County of New London and in the Colonie of Connecticut in New England husbandman on the one part and Benjamin GRAVES Sen'r of Saybrook in the County and Colony aforesaid Taler on the other part
Wittnesseth that I the said Nicholas STOUGHTON by and with the Consent and approbation of William SHIPMAN of Colchester in the Colony aforesaid husbandman for divers good Causes and Considerations mee thereunto moving, and Expecially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Eighteen Pounds Ten Shillings to me in hand secured by a sufficient Instrument In Writing and the hand of said Benjamin GRAVES the Receit whereof I doe hereby acknowledge; Have bargained sold, given, granted alienated Enfeoffed and Confirmed, and doe hereby Bargain Sell, give, grant alienate Enfeoffe and Confirme, unto the said Benjamin GRAVES, his heirs Executors administrators and assigns a certain Tract or parcell of Land now sold and disposed of is the one halfe of that Land which the said Nicholas STOUGHTON bought and Purchased of William SHIPMAN afore said: That is to say one half of the home Lott of which part is agreed upon and the said Benjamin GRAVES is to divide the other part of itt and the said Nicholas STOUGHTON is to have his first Choice and the other part to be and belonge to said GRAVES; and also that the said Benjamin GRAVES shall have an Enjoy the one halfe of a small Lott Containing by Estimation Eleven acres in the old Planting field in Patteconcke afore said and the said Lott to be Equally divided both as to quantity and quallity and the said parties to Draw lotts for the first Choice where so divided &c;

This Writing Wittnesseth that Nicholas STOUGHTON & Benjamin GRAVES have divided the home Lott that this Deed mentioned and have mutually agreed that Nicholas STOUGHTON shall have from the swamp to the Corner of the ffence being fourscore and four Rods and a half. Being the South side to the Southwest Corner; and on the West side on a straight Line to a Walnut Tree marked and then to Blank stump; and behind the said GRAVES hence to a Walnutt stump; and to a walnut stump being the northwest Corner and from thence to the great River being ffifty eight Rods; and that the said GRAVES is to Leave the said STOUGHTON an open highway on the north side up to the Country Road and the said gives the said GRAVES Leave to Transport any thing to ye River to ye Landing place provided he Don't dam?ie the said STOUGHTON; and also that the Little Lott the said GRAVES is to divide and the said STOUGHTON to Choose.

Land belonging to John WESTALL bought of Mr. Richard ELY in Saybrook, one parselle of land which he bought and purchased of Mr. Richard ELY and so much upland the whole sixtie four ackrs bounded on the west by the marsh running by the edge of it to a big Wallnut marked every side in the south west corner and on the north by the lands of William BEAMAN and Joseph INGHAM and on the south of the five Rail fence where once stood the three railed fence on the east by the Cove, out of the payment of this land the said WEST paid to the treasurer of Conecticut one hundred and thirty pounds which completed what was due of Captain CULLICK's last two hundred and fifty pound bill to Conecticut as doth more fully appear in a deed of sale now in the hand of said WEST bearing date with this record the 25th of June 1673.

This Indenture of Sale made the Tenth day of July in the first year of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lady Anne of England Queen: Between Daniell LORD of Say-Brook in the County of New London and in the Colonie of Connecticutt in New England Weaver on the one Part and James LORD of Said place County and Colony Merchant on the other Part Witnesseth that the said Daniell LORD for and in Consideration of a valuable Sume of money in hand Received of an from said James LORD the Receit whereof I doe here acknowledge and of every part and parcell thereof doe acquit and discharge the said James LORD his heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever Have Bargained Sold given granted alienated Infeoffed and Confirm unto the said James LORD his heirs Executors administrators and assigns a Certain Tract or Parcell of upland and meadow Lying and being at a Certain place beloe the stone pitts in a place Called the Thousand acres in Say-Brook Bounded Southward by the Ox pasture Westward and Northward by Oyster River and Eastward by the Land of Said James LORD Computed by Estimation Seven acres and a halfe be it more or less.

Know all men by these Presents that I William PARKER of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticutt in New England ffor divers good Causes and Considerations me here unto moveing but more Especially for and in Consideration of the Sum of Ten Pounds of Currant money n this Colony to me in hand paid att the Sealing and delivery hereof Have Bargained Sold Enfeoffed and Confirmed and doe by these presents Bargain Sell Enfeoffe and Confirm unto John MAULTBIE of Say-Brook in the County and Colony aforesaid Ten acres of upland be it more or less situate Lying and Being in the Township of Saybrook Being bounded Eastward with his own Land. Southward by the Lyne that divides the Bounds between the Town of Saybrook & Potopague Quarter To a Black Oake Tree with neerstone. Westward by the Land of the Said William PARKER; Northward to a white Oake Tree with a meerstone and from thence to the Northeast Corner of the afores'd Land to a black Oake staddle marked on two sides and with a meerstone by it.

Deed from John TILLETSON to John BUSHNELLL
This Indenture made the one and twentieth Day of October in the thirteenth year of his Majesties Reign William the third King of England &c Between John TILLETSON of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticutt in New England Cord wain'r on the one part and John BUSHNELL of Saybrook in the County and Colony aforesaid Husbandman on the other Part: Witnesseth that the said John TILLETSON for and in Consideration of sum of Nineteen Pounds of Currant Silver money of this Collony in hand Received the Receit whereof I doe hereby acknowledge and of every part and parcell thereof doe acquit and discharge the said John BUSHNELL his heirs Executors administrators or assigns for ever, Have Given Granted Bargained alienated Sold and Confirmed and by these presents give grant Bargain alienate Sell and Confirm unto the said John BUSHNELL his heirs Executors administrators or assigns a Cartaine tract or parcell of Land Containing by Estimation Six acres be it more or Less Lieing & being In the thousand acres in the bounds of Saybrook afore said Bounded on the west on Oyster River Streame on the South with the Land of Benjamin and Daniell LORDS on the East on the highway and on the North on the Lands of John BULL Sen'r and Stephen CHALKER. To Have and to hold all and Singular the afore Bargained premises woods under woods priviledges Commonages benefitts Rights ffences proprieties and appurtenances in any kind or manner Whatsoever belonging or appertaining to the said Land within the said Boundaries unto the said John BUSHNELL his heirs Executors administrators or assigns to his and their sole and one use benefitt and behoofe for ever free and Clear from all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever and I the said John TILLETSON for me my heirs Executors administrators and assigns will Warrant and Defend the said Lands against all persons or persons Lawfully Claiming the same and I the said John TILLETSON doe give to the said John BUSHNELL ffull possession Seacin and delivery of the aforesaid Land

The Confirmation of house and lands by Mr. Edward COLLINS of Charlestown as Attorney for Mr. ELDRED and in his behalf,
Know all men by these presents that I Edward COLLINS of Charlestown in the Massachusetts Colony in New England, merchant, Attorney for and in behalf of Mr. Nathaniel ELDRED merchant have Receved and had of William PARKER of Saybrook in New England Six pounds sterling in currant provisions at the price currant and is in full payment for lands houses and field to the above named William PARKER by Captaine Thomas BAKER's he was Attorney for Mr. Nathaniel ELDRED the reseit whereof I the above named Edward COLLINS do by these presents acknowledge and there with to be fully satisfied and contented and thereof every part and parsell there of do fully Clearly and absolutely acquit and discharge hime the said William PARKER his ayres executors and administrators for ever by these presents in witness hereof I the above named Edwards COLLINS attorney as is above expressed have hereunto put my hand and seale the first day of Aprill in the year of our Lord 1678

These are in the name and behalf of my mutch honored father Mr. Edward COLLINS to Request Mr. Robert CHAPMAN Recorder to Record the full right and title of house and lands being in Saybrook belonging to Mr. Nathaniell ELDRED and being purchased and fully paid for by William PARKER senor agent for the above said Mr. ELDRED that the house and lands every part and parsill of them should be recorded to the said William PARKER and his Ayres forever to the true intent of this I have hereunto set my hand this 10th day of June 1678.

May the 5th of 1703 I Thomas NORTON Senior doe Testifie that I being at the house of Capt. Sam'll JONES of Say-Brook I hear the said JONES tender unto John BUSHNELL to fulfill unto him the within Written Judgment of Court Provided the said BUSHNELL would Except thereof which said BUSHNELL did in my hereing Refuse. Oyster River Proprietors to the Estate of Deacon ffrancis BUSHNELL
Say-Brook Aprill 23: 1702 Wee whose names are here under Written being measurer of Land in Oyster River Quarter have Laid out a piece of Land to the Estate of Deacon ffrancis BUSHNELL deceased at the North End of the Mill Pond and partly upon Prospect Hill The Southwest Corner is a black Oake Tree and so Runs Northerly a hundred thirty six Rods to a Red Oake stadle with stons at the Root of it by the path side from thence it runs Easterly ffifty nine Rod to a black Oake Tree from thence it runs Southerly a hundred & five Rods to a birch Tree near the mill Stream and so to the streams: from thence seventy two Rods to the first Black Oake Tree in which bounds there is a bout Seventy eight acres: This Land Laid out for a two hundred pound Right second devision Land

Land Laid out to the heirs of Deacon ffranciss BUSHNELL
Ffebruary: 24: 1703/4 Wee whose Names are under written being desired by Capt. Samuel JONES to Lay out a piece of Land on the account of a Right which Right did formerly belong to Deacon ffrancis BUSHNELL of Say-Brook deceased the Land now Laid out is then bounded the Southeast Corner is that Tree or Rock that is the bound Tree or Rock between Oyster River and Potopauge Quarter and the Town Commons. The North East Corner two small maple Trees, that grow on the West side of a swamp which Trees were formerly marked and stand in the dividing Line between the two Quarters: from thence it Runs about Sixty Rod Westward to a Tree marked and Stons Laid at the Root of it and it stands upon the Northwest Corner of the hill Called Waulfe Pitt Hill: from thence it Runs about Eighty Rods to a small Chestnut Tree marked and by said Tree there is five small Rocks which stoop to the Eastward from thence it Runs Eastward to a small Oake Tree by the path side which Tree is marked and Stons and Stons Laid by the Root of it so that the Land now Laid out Lyeth partly upon Prospect Hill & partly upon Woulfe Pitt Hill and the Land between the two Hills mentioned and is bounded North upon Common Land East upon the Line that divides between the three Quarters above mentioned, South partly upon the Land formerly Laid out to the heirs of Deacon ffrancis BUSHNELL and partly upon the Common. West partly upon the fores'd Land and partly upon the Common In which boundaries there is Sixty acres and is Laid out as Third Division Land belonging to the Estate of Two hundred pound Right Which as is above mentioned did belong to Deacon BUSHNELL Deceast and is Laid out to the heirs of s'd Deacon BUSHNELL by us measurers of Oyster River Quarter.

This Indenture of sale made the one and Twentieth day January In the Thirteenth year of his Majesties Reign William the Third King of England &c Between Thomas DUNK of Saybrook in the County of New London and Collony of Connecticutt in New England of the one part & Thomas NORTON of Say Brook in the County and Collony afore said Same: on the other part. Wittnesseth that the said Thomas DUNK for divers good Causes and Considerations him there unto moveing and in Special for and in Consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds in Currant Silver money of this Collony or in provisions all money price to me the said Thomas DUNK in hand secured of and from the said Thomas NORTON the Receit where of I doe hereby acknowledge and myself there with fully satisfied and contented Have Bargained Sold given granted alienated Enfeoffed and Confirined and doe by these presents Bargaine Sell Give Grant alienate Enfeoffe pass over and Confirm unto the said Thomas NORTON Sen'r his heirs Executors administrators or assigns. The one halfe parte of all that Land Left and Bequeathed to my Honoured ffather Thomas DUNK by the Last Will and Estament of Joshua SACHEM: Wherein the whole is Expressed to fe ffour Thousand acres to be the quality of said halfe part (as to number of acres more or less as it shall fall by Lott unto him the Thomas NORTON or as the Committee Chosen or to be Chosen among the said Joshuas Legatees belonging to Saybrook or Else where shall allot it or Lay it out as the Halfe of my honoured fathers Legasie in said Willin Quantity and Qaullity Be it for Number of acres more or less.
To hand and to Hold from the day of the Date hereof-all and Singular the one halfe of the said Land as above with all the Rights Commonages priviledges and all manner of advantages and Benefitts there unto Belonging or in any wise appertaining Equall unto the other halfe of said Legasie sold and Disposed of by me Thomas DUNK to John TILLETSON of Saybrook afore s'd unto the said Thomas NORTON Sen'r his heirs Executors administrators or assigns for Ever free and Clear from all former Charges and demands Whatsoever to the day of the date hereof Except his p? sent Last Rate) and without the Lett Suit Distuebance Eviction Ejection or deny all of me the said Thomas DUNK or any other person or persons Lawfully Claiming By form or under me or by my means or procurement
