Nathaniell CHAPMAN his Mortgage to Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM & Mr. Moses NORISE executors of the last Will and Testament of Edward LAWREY late of Say-brook deceased,

Nathaniell CHAPMAN having received from the above said executors of the estate of the said Edward LAWREY the full and just sum of four & thirty pounds and five shillings & four pence in lawfull currant money, and the full and just sume of eight & twenty pounds four shillings and eight pence in goods and utensils at money price for the which the said Nath'll CHAPMAN his heirs executors administrators and assigns are bound in a bond of one hundred and twenty five pounds current money payable to the said Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM and Mr. Moses NORISE their heirs executors administrators or assigns. That at or on the sixteenth day of Aprill which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and ninety six the said Nathaniell CHAPMAN his heirs executors administrators or assigns in the town of Saybrook is to pay or cause to be paid the full and just sume of Sixty two pounds and ten shillings in lawfull currant money as also for the next year insuing the date hereof the sume of one pound fourteen shillings & four pence in lawfull money for rent and for the five years next ensuing the date hereof the sum of three pounds fifteen shillings in lawfull currant money for each year and in each year of the five years. Provided that in case the said Nath: CHAPMAN choose in each or any of the years to pay the rent in provision in specie and price agreed upon that he may so do doubling the sum that is mentioned before. And for the securing the said principal & rents as abovesaid the said Nath'll CHAPMAN doth for himself his heirs executors administrators and assigns fully freely absolutely bargain sell assign enfeoffe and confirm unto the said Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM & Mr. Moses NORISE their heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever. A certain parcell of upland and meadow with a highway to it lying and being in Oyster River Quarter belonging to Say-brook being fifteen acres of meadow being bounded eastward with the lands of John & Joseph CHAPMAN and Southward upon the sea and westward upon a creek and Northward upon the lands of the said Nathaniell CHAPMAN To have and to hold the aforesaid upland and meadow computed at one and thirty acres and a quarter with the priviledges and appurtenances there unto belonging to them the said Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM & Mr. NORISE their heirs executors administrators, Provided all wais and upon conditions never the less that if the abovesaid principell sume together with the rent be paid at Saybrook as is abovesaid and at the time & times above specified Then this present deed of bargain and sale shall cease be void and of none effect. But in default of the s'd payments or either of them respectively to abide and remain in full power & vertue with the effect in laws &c Provided always and it is agreed that the said Nathaniell CHAPMAN his heirs &c duly and truly paying the rent money annuly for the first six years he or they shall have liberty to renew their lease for six years next ensuing the first without any additions or alterations of the true meaning of these terms.

Aprill 16th 1690 Samuell BATE his mortgage to Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM and Mr. Moses NORISE executors of the last Will and Testament of Edward LAWREY late of Saybrooke deceased.

Samuel BATE having received from the abovesaid executor of the estate of said Edward LAWREY, The following full and just sume of four and thirty pounds five shillings and four pence as present lawfull currant money and that which is esteemed as present Lawfull currant money. And the full and just sume of eight & twenty pounds four shillings & eight pence in goods and utensils at money prices for for the which s'd BATE his heirs &c are bound in a bond of one of one hundred and twenty five pounds currant money payable to said executors then heirs &c That at or the sixteenth day of Aprill, one thousand six hundred & ninety six s'd BATE his heirs &c in the Town of Saybrook is to pay or cause to be paid the full & just sume of Sixty two pounds & ten shillings in lawfull money As also for the next year ensuing the date here of of the sum of one pound fourteen shillings & four pence in lawfull currant money for rent, And for the five years next ensuing the date hereof of the sume of Three pounds fifteen shillings in lawfull currant money for each year and in any and each year of the five years, Provided that in case s'd BATE choose in any or each year to pay the rent in provisions in specie and price agreed upon that he may so do he doubling the sume that is mentioned before-

The lands mortgaged for the further securing the said principall & rents as aboves'd are as follows viz: Two parcels of land one of upland & the other of meadow lying & being in Oyster River Quarter belonging to Saybrook afores'd. The upland being six and twenty acres and is bounded north by a swamp west by the lands of Joseph PRATT, East and north by the lands of Abraham CHALKER and the highway and South upon the land of the said Samuel BATE The meadow and being Twelve acres commonly called the spectickle meadow and is boundeded on the east by the east branch of Hagars Creek South and west by the westernmost branch of Hagars creek & north by a small creek and a ditch in the meadow- Provided allways and it is agreed that the said Sam'el BATE his heirs &c duly and truly paying the rent money annually for the first six years he or they shall have liberty to renew their lease for six years next ensuing the first without any addition to or alteration of the true meaning of these terms. May 27th 1690

Mr. John CHAPMAN received from the above said executors of the estate of the said Edward LAWREY the full and just sum of one & twenty pounds one shilling and four pence in currant money with the merchant and that which is esteemed as present lawfull currant money and the full and just sum of Seven pounds eight shillings & eight pence in goods and utensils at money price for the which s'd Jn'o CHAPMAN his heirs &c are bound in a bond of seven and fifty pounds currant money with the merchant payable to said executors their heirs &c That at or on the sixteenth day of April one thousand six hundred and ninety six said Jn'o CHAPMAN his heirs &c in the town of Saybrook is to pay or cause to be paid the full sum of eight and twenty pounds & ten shillings in Currant money with merchant. As allso for the five next years ensuing the date hereof the sum of one pound fourteen shillings three pence in currant money with the merchant for each year of the five years. Provided their rent in provision in specie and price agreed upon (viz) port at three pounds and ten shillings the bbl. Winter wheat at four shillings and sixpence the bushell

Mortgage from John CHAPMAN to the Estate of Edward LAWREY cont'd

Summer wheat four shillings the bushnell and Indian Corn at two shilling & six pence the bushell all merchantable that he may so do he doubling the same that is mentioned before.

The lands mortgaged for the further securing the said principal and rents specified on the other side are as follows viz: Two parcels of land lying and being in Say-Brook The one piece lying in the field commonly called the planting field and is by estimation twelve acres of upland and meadow be it more or less and is bounded northward & eastward with the cove and southward with the land of John TULLEY and Westward with the land of William BUSHNELL this percell to well fenced in particular by s'd John CHAPMAN his heirs or assigns and so to administer, the other percell lyeth at the plum banks and is by bounded northward partly by a creek and partly by the meadow formerly belonging to Joseph PECK and Eastward by the meadow of John PARKER and Southward by the sea and westward by the meadow of Thomas NORTON Provided allwais and it is agreed that the said Jno. CHAPMAN his heirs &c duly and truly paying the rent money annually for the first six years he or they shall have liberty to renew their lease for six years next ensuing the first without any addition to or alteration of the true meaning of these terms.

Sergt John CLARKE his Mortgage to Mr. BUCKINGHAM Mr. Moses NORISE executors of the last will and Testament of Edward LAWREY lat of Say-Brook deceased.

Sergent John CLARKE having received from the above said executors of the estate of the said Edward LAWREY the full and just sume of three & thirty pounds eleven shillings & eight pence in currant money with the merchant, and that which is esteemed a present lawfull currant money. And the full and just sume of Three pounds eighteen shillings & four pence in goods and utensils as money price for the which said CLARKE his heirs &c are bound in a bond of Seventy five pounds currant money with the merchant payable to said executors their heirs &c. That at or on the sicteenth day of Aprill one thousand six hundred and ninety six said Jno. CLARKE his heirs &c in the Town of Saybrook is to pay or cause to be paid the full and just sum of Seven & thirty pounds and ten shillings in currant money with the merchant As also for this year next ensuing the date hereof the sume of one pound thirteen shillings & seven pence in currant money with the merchant for the five years next ensuing the date thereof the sum of two pounds & five shillings in currant money with the merchant for each year and in each year of the five year. Provided that in case s'd John CLARK choose in any or each of the year to pay the rent in povision in specie and price agreed upon viz: pork at three pounds & ten shilling the barrel winter wheat at four shillings and six the bushel and Indian Corn at two shillings & six pence the bushnell all merchable that he may do he doubling the sum that is mentioned before

The lands mortgaged for the further securing the said principal and rents as aboves'd are as follows viz: Thirteen acres of upland And eight acres of meadow lying and being in Saybrook in the field commonly called the old oxpasture being bounded east on the South cove, South on the lands of the said CLARKE west on the highway going to the corn field North on the lands of Lieut. Sam'll JONES. These lands being now well fenced are to be kept in sufficient repair by the said John CLARKE or his heirs or assigns Provided allways and it is agreed that the said John CLARK his heirs &c duly & truly paying the rent money annually for the first six years he or they shall have liberty to renew their lease for six years next ensuing the first without any addition to or alteration of the true meaning of these terms.

October 10th 1690 Another Mortgage of Sergent John CLARKE's

Who hath received from the aforesaid executors viz: Mr. Thomas BUCKINGHAM and Mr. Moses NOISE more of the estate of the said Edward LAWREY To wit, the full and just sume of Twenty pounds five shillings & four pence in currant money with the merchant and that which is esteemed as present lawfull currant money. And the full and just sum of four pounds fourteen shillings & eight pence in goods & utensils at money price for the which s'd CLARKE his heirs &c are bound in bond of fifty pounds currant money with the merchant payable to said executors their heirs &c That at or on the sixteenth day of Aprill one thousand six hundred & ninety six s'd Jno. CLARK his heirs &c: in the town of Saybrook is to pay or cause to be paid the full and just sum of five and twenty pounds in currant money with the merchant for [can't read] As also for this half year next ensuing the date thereof The sum of ten shillings in currant money with the merchant for rent, And for the five years next ensuing the date thereof The sum of one pound and ten shillings in currant money with the merchant for each year and in each year of the five years. Provided that in case s'd John CLARKE choose in any or each of the years to pay the rent in provision in specie and price agreed upon as is specified in his former mortgage that he may so do, he doubling the sum that is mentioned before.

The land mortgaged for the further securing the said principal and rents are as follows viz: five acres of upland & seven acres and three rods of meadow now well fenced and so to be maintained by the said John CLARK's his heirs or assigns lying and being in the field commonly called the old oxpasture in Saybrook being bounded on the east by the South cove on the South by the lands of the said John CLARKE and the lands of William & Samuel BEAMONT West on the highway to the cornfield North on the lands of the said John CLARKE under mortgage by a deed bearing date the sixteenth of April one thousand six hundred and ninety. Provided always and it is agreed that the said Jno. CLARK his heirs &c duly and truly paying the rent money annually for the first six years he or they shall have liberty to renew their lease for six years, next ensuing the first without any additions or alterations of the true meaning of these terms.

The Contents of these two last mortgages of Sergent now Lieut John CLARKE are completed and therefore they are void Attested [symbol for per] me

Deed between Samuel LORD and Thomas BUCKINGHAM senior, Executor to the Estate of Edward LORY

Know all men by these presents that I, Samuell lord of the Colony of Connecticut of the County of New London of the Town of Saybrook Farmer, for good Considerations me thereunto moveing to in special for and in consideration of twenty pounds lawfull money in hand secured of Thomas BUCKINGHAM senior of the aforesaid Colony County and town executors to the last will and Testament of Edward LORY late of Saybrook Have bargained sold and alienated unto the said BUCKINGHAM his successors or assigns two parcels of land. The one lying and being in the filed commonly called the thousand acres being by estimation eight acres be it more or less bounded on the east by the highway through the field unto the mill on the South by the highway through the field unto oyster river bounds west unto the lands of Daniell LORD and on the North by the lands of Benjamin LORD, the other parcell lying and being in the field commonly called the Calves pasture being by estimation two acres and a half be it more or less bounded on the east by the lands of Thomas DUNKE, South on the lands of David PARKER, West on the land and north on the lands of Samuell LORD which parcels together with all the priviledges & immunities thereunto belonging I do acknowledge to have sold & alienated unto the said BUCKINGHAM his heirs & executors for ever and do give to him and them full and free possession of the said parcells of land and each of them abovesaid or upon the twentieth day of Aprill which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred & ninety six and with out any process or eviction by law and to be by them had and held in full and free possession without any let or hindrance or molestation from me my heirs administrators executors or assigns for ever, And do by these presents warrant my title to the said lands and warrant them to be free from all former sales mortgages or alienations whatsoever and unto the confirmation of the premises I do bind myself my heirs executors administrators & assigns forever-

The condition of this sale & contract being as follows viz That if the said Samuell LORD shall at or before the twentieth of Aprill which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred & ninety five well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said BUCKINGHAM his heirs order or assigns the full and just sum of one pound & three shillings in lawfull money for the rent of the said twenty pounds for this year and shall at or before the twentieth of April which will be in the year on thousand six hundred & ninety six pay or cause to be paid unto the said BUCKINGHAM his heirs order assigns the full & just sums of one pound and four shillings in lawfull currant money for the rent of the said twenty pounds that year then part and shall on the said twentieth day of Aprill in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred & ninety six pay unto the s'd BUCKINGHAM his successors order assigns the full and just sum of twenty pounds lawfull currant money. Then this bargain of sale in all the parts of it to stand voide and none effect But in failure of the said payment or either of them the bargain of sale in all the parts of it to be of full force and virtue & effect But in failure of the said payments or either of them the bargain of sale or all the parts of it to be in full force and effect, forever. Allways provided that the said LORD be paying the abovesaid rent and principall as abovesaid may have & hath liberty at or on the s'd twentieth of April which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred & ninety six to extend his lease of the said twenty pounds for the term of six years more without any essential alterations of the aboves'd terms-exposing s'd lands unto any more than ordinary disafaction And also unto the true performance of the premises I the said LORD do bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns by these presents as witness my hand and seal this 27th day of August in the year of our Lord

To all people: &c. I, Edward SHIPMAN Senior of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut, Send Greeting. Know ye that I the said Edward SHIPMAN senior as well for and in consideration of the natural affection and love which I have and bear unto my loveing son Samuell SHIPMAN of Saybrook of Saybrook aforesaid as also for other good causes and considerations me at this present especially moving do by these presents after my decease give grant and confirme unto the said Samuell SHIPMAN my old dwelling house in Saybrook and half my Seller under my new house and half my Barn with liberty of way to goe into & out of such of them as occasion dayly doth or may require also after my decease I doe give unto my son Samuell SHIPMAN as aforesaid that piece of land commonly called the grass plot and half my yard and half my garden. To say the same use privileges and benefit of my yards and garden as my son John shall have also, after my decease I do give unto my son Samuell SHIPMAN half of the home lott also have that land I bought of Mr. John WASTOLL & David BUELL viz: that halfe in quality if not in quantity or the southward side next the highway allowing my son John a pent cart highway to goe to his land, also, after my decease I doe give unto my son Samuell halfe my meadow that I bought of David BUELL with half of my right in the oxpasture and half my right in the Town Commons of Saybrook and also my two oxen or steers in the teame: with the horse, cart and plow with all the tackle and appurtenances thereunto belonging and expressed in my last will and testament. To have & to hold after my decease all & singular the aforesaid parcells of land and other the premises with their Rights and several proportions of fence and other appurtenances to each of them belonging unto the said Sam'll SHIPMAN his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever free and clear from all incumbrances debts dues or demands:

In Witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of September 1697.

The Lands of Samuel BUSHNELL, Bought of John SEWARD of Guilford, which sometime belonged to his father Lieut William BUSHNELL late of Say-Brook deceased August 21st 1690.

Being six acres of Saltmeadow land lying at Pochauge by five mile river, Being bounded Southward by the old Spring and upland And Westward partly by the river and northward by the river and eastward partly by the upland and partly by the meadow of John JORDON & one hundred & fifty pound Right in the oxpasture descending from his father.

The house and house lott of Jonas GREENS Bought of William WELSTEED of Bston Marrinor

Jonas GREEN of New London in the Colony of Connecticut in New England Bought of William WELSTEED Senior of Boston in the Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England one house a house lott and orchard lying and being in Say-brook in the Colony of Connecticut, which said William WELSTEED bought of W'm SOUTHMAID and is bounded on the north and east with the land of John WESTOLL deceased and on the South with the lands formerly John HILLS now in the possession of Daniell BUCKINGHAM, and on the west with the Highway leading to the Cove, To have and to hold the said house and house lott orchard and appurtenances as its now fenced with all the privileges therewith belonging unto the said Jonas GREEN his heirs executors Administrators and forever As more fully doth appear by a deed of sale given under the said William WELSTEED's hand & seal bearing date July the second Anno Domini 1604 and by him acknowledged to be his act and deed at Boston

The lands of John COOK bought of Deacon William PARKER October 8th 1690.

Being by estimation five acres be it more or less of upland lying and being at Carbine point in Potopauge quarter. Being bounded eastward with the great river and and Southward by the line that divides between the town of Saybrook and Potopague quarters from the great river to a rock at the Southwest Corner marked J.C. and is bounded Westward by the lands of said William PARKER from the aforesaid rock to a black oak tree standing near to the meadow and is bounded northward partly by the meadow and partly by the Cove with the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging as more fully appears by a deed of sale given under the said William PARKER's hand & seal bearing date with this record.

The mark that Mrs. Margaret AVERY puts on her Creatures is a Crop of the off ear and a half Crop on the upper side of the said neer ear.

Know all men by these presents that I, Samuell WICKHAM by virtue of the award of Mr. Jn'o PARKER Ju'r of Say-brook and Mr. William ELY of Lyme have Rec'd of Mr. Jn'o KIRTLAND of Saybrooke upon the acct of a bill due from Mr. John WESTOLL's estate of Say-brooke to Mr. John GARIADY of Warwicke as I am assignee to s'd GARIADY &c I doe therefore hereby exonerate & acquit and discharge the said KIRTLAND as executor to the aforesaid estate and all the heirs & executors of the estate of the said Jn'o WESTOLL or - of and from the said bill and all other bill bonds accts whatsoever

To all people &c I William BEAMONT of Say-Brooke in the County of New London send greeting: Know ye that I the said William BEAMONT as well for and in Consideration of the naturall affection and love which I have and bear unto my beloved son Samuell BEAMONT of Saybrook aforesaid as also for other good causes & considerations me at this present especially moving have given & granted and by these presents do give grant and confirm unto the said Samuell BEAMONT the one half of my now dwelling house, and the one half of my barn and the one half of my orchard and homestead in the town plat of Saybrook upon which my house and barn now stands together with the one half of all other my lands both upland & meadow belonging to Say-Brook To say the one half of each and every parcel of upland and meadow as they are bounded in the record of Saybrook, also I do give unto my said son as aforesaid two steers each of them one year old and the vantage, one black one with a White face and one brindle one, as also one feather bed & bolster given him by my wife before her decease. To Have and to hold all and singular the aforesaid premises unto the said Samuell BEAMONT his executors administrators and assigns to his and their own proper uses and behoof forever without any money or other thing therefore to be yielded paid or done unto me the said William BEAMONT my executors administrators or assigns And I the said William BEAMONT his executors administrators or assigns to the use a foresaid against all people do warrant and forever defend by these presents. Mr. William BEAMONT personally appeared in Saybrook this 18th of March 1688 & acknowledged the above written to be his free & voluntary act & deed before me John ALLYN one of the Councell of his Majesties his Teritory of New England.

The abovesaid William BEAMONT hath meade over unto his son Samuell BEAMONT Immediately after his decease to enter upon and take possession of the other half of his dwelling house barn orchard lands both upland & meadow in the township of Saybrook with all the priviledges & Immunities thereunto belonging, also his Team that is to say one yoake of oxen (viz.) one red and one pride ox with all utensils thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining as well to the said Teams asto husbandry And also his great table in the parlor and also one Rugg Two blankets and two pair of sheets without any Incumbrance of debt or debts legacies or legacies to be paid by the said Samuell, Also the said William BEAMONT in the presence of the witnesses whose hands are to this deed of gift-doth deliver to his son Samuell BEAMONT one yoake of oxen belonging to the above s'd Teams as his own proper estate, The above said premises doth more largely and fully appear by a deed of gift under the hand of said William BEAMONT bearing date November the 25th 1691.

On warehouse: and six Rod of land adjoining to it on the north side of the town plot in Say-Brooke by the north cove as it stands recorded unto the said Daniell & Jordan POST folio 244 & 245. of this Booke with one hundred pound Right on the ox pasture and two acres of meadow near Tillies point and fourteen acres of land at Paddaconke as it stands Recorded to the said Jordan POST all in Saybrooke as also all their right of meadow over at Lyme quantity five acres be it more or less. Know all men by these presents that whereas Mr. John CLARKE of Saybrook (many years since) bought of my father Thomas BIRCHARD deceased a hundred pound right in the oxe pasture at Say-Brooke, I under written doe confirme the act of my said Father & doe declare the s'd land to be and belong to said Mr. CLARKE & his heirs or assigns for ever as Witness my hand this 30th of March 1696.

Deed between Samuel JONES and Edward SHIPMAN

This Indenture made the 18th day of July in the eight year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William of England Scotland France & Ireland King defencer of the faith &c Between Samuel JONES of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut Senior on the one part: and Edward SHIPMAN of Say-Brook in the County & Colony aforesaid Senior on the other part. Witnesseth that the that the said Samuell JONES for and in Consideration of the sume of fifteen pounds in Currant money of this Colony (as now passes) to me forever by obligation under the hand and seale of said SHIPMAN bearing date with these presents Have bargained sold given granted aliened enfeoffed and confirmed and do hereby bargain sell give grant alien enfeoffe and confirme unto the said Edward SHIPMAN his heirs executors and administrators and assigns a certain parcel of land lying & being at Pattaconk in the bounds of Saybrook aforesaid containing by estimation Thirty acres of upland be it more or less Bounded northerly on the land which John SHIPMAN now lives upon: West by the great pond, Southerly by the land of John BUSHNELL and Easterly upon the land laid out by the Town for the highway To Have & to hold all and singular the fore bargained lamds woods underwoods priviledges commonages benefits Rights members propriety and appurtenances in any kind or manner whatsoever, to all any every of the aforesaid bargained premises belonging or appertaining in any manner or wise whatsoever unto the said Edward SHIPMAN his heirs executors administrators or assigns forever and I the said Samuell JONES for me my heirs grant & agree to and with the said Edward SHIPMAN in manner and form following that is to say that I the said Samuell JONES at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof am the true and lawfull owner of the afore bargained premises and have in myselfull Right power and lawfull authority to sell alienate and dispose of the same unto him the said SHIPMAN his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever and also that the same and every part and parcell thereof is free and clear from all other bargains sales gifts grants alienations titles dowries claims demands and Incumbrances whatsoever and allso that I the said Samuell JONES my heirs executors and administrators shall and will Warrant maintain and defend the above bargained premises and every part & parcell thereof against all person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or demanding the same.

Then Bought of Samuell BUSHNELL Two acres and a half of upland being bounded eastward with the land of Robert CHAPMAN. Southward with a highway that goes into the meadow Westward with the lands of the said Nathaniell CHAPMAN: Northward with the lands of Joshua BUSHNELL with the privilidges and appurtenances there unto belonging as more fully doth appear by a deed of sale given under the said Samuell BUSHNELL his hand and seale bearing date with this record.
2d January 27th 1692.

The Bough of his Brother Capt. John CHAPMAN half his right or proportion of meadow called or known by the name of Treaker Hill meadow formerly belonged to their Hon'rd father Capt Robert CHAPMAN late of Say-Brook deceased. As also a fifty pound allotment of land of the second Division in the above said quarter with the priviledge and appurtenances to each of them belonging as more fully doth appear by a deed of sale given under the said Capt. John CHAPMAN's his hand and seale bearing date with this record.

3d Aprill the 9th 1694

Then Bought of his Brother Capt. John CHAPMAN all his right and title of land lying within fence at a place commonly called Cookes hill within the bounds of Saybrooke in Oyster River Quarter given him by his Hon'rd father Capt. Robert CHAPMAN late of Say-Brook deceased by his last Will and testament together with an addition of land given him by the said quarter being between the fence & the Country Road, And also a hundred pound division already laid out on the North side of the highway over against the former addition of land before mentioned, To have and to hold all and singular the aforesaid proceeds of land together with all other the priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Nath'll CHAPMAN his heirs executors and administrators & assigns for ever as more fully doth appear by a deed of sale given under the said Capt. Be it know by all men by these presents that I, Abraham WATEROUS & Rebeckah my wife of Say-Brook in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut Have received of our Brother John CLARKE heir & executor of John CLARKE late of Saybrook deceived to the value of twenty pounds in full of what was du to us from the said estate that did belong to our late Brother Joseph CLARKE deceased: of which said sume of Twenty pounds as my mutual agreement by us received as aforesaid wee acknowledge ourselves fully satisfied and paid and thereof and of every part and parcell thereof do clearly acquit exonerate and discharge the said John CLARKE our Brother his heirs executors and administrators and every of them by these presents.

An agreement made the 8th Aprill 1657.

Between John LAY of Saybrook of the one party and John CLARK Junior of Say-Brooke aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said John LAY in consideration of thirty five pounds already received and of five pounds more to be paid according to the tenor of a bill under the hand of John CLARKE junior have bargained & sold & doe by these presents bargain sell make over and possession freely deliver unto the said John CLARKE junior his heirs executors and assigns a certaine home lott containing five acres (more or less) lying and being in Saybrook aforesaid Bounded with the lot of Greenfield Laraby on the east and the highway on the north, and Thomas DUNKE on the south and a lane on the west with two acres of meadow lying at the neck gate over against the said lott on the other side of the highway as also one acre & a half of meadow more which is to be laid out in a convenient place together with six acres of land in the thousand acres (be it more or less) lying on the north of the lott which belonged to Jonathan RUDD and also all his right & property in the oxpasture and Common all which the premises the said John LAY & assigns to have and to hold and enjoy without any lett hinderance or molestation and so the due performance of the premises the said John LAY doth bind himself his heirs executors and assigns founly by these presents.

Wee whose names are hereby underwritten being by the Honored court appointed Administrators of the estate of Lieut William PRATT late of Say-Brooke deceased here by order that these lands here following be recorded in the records of Say Brook unto John PRATT his heirs & assigns forever as part of his portion due to him from the estate of his father Lieut William PRATT as aforesaid which lands lyeth in Potpauge quarter belonging to Saybrook

Imprimis 1. first - six acres of upland (be it more or less) upon the point adjoining to the dwelling house being bounded northward with the land of Robert LAY and eastward on the lands of Samuell PRATT and South upon the cove and westward with the lands of Nath'el PRATT.

2d.-Twelve acres of Bogs in Eight mile meadow being bounded on the north with the meadow of Samuell PRATT and the east with the great river and on the south and West with the cove.

3-Twenty acres of land lying in the plaine commonly called scotch plaine (be it more or less) being bounded on the south with the lands of John DENISON Running with a brook which is the division betwixt us, and on the west with the foot of the hill northward with the land of William PRATT, and east ward with the muddy river.

4-one hundred pound Commonage in Potopauge quarter.

Jno FENNER which is the north East Corner and running by the lands of said FENNER unto a white oake Tree standing on Ninnie hill which is the Southeats Corner and so running westward unto the fore mentioned Red oake Tree this with the amendment lies for fifty acres Thirty of which was given him as the eldest son of Mr. PRATT late Saybrook deceased, twenty upon a second Division of a hundred pound right in the said quarter.

Then there was granted to John PARKER Senior a certain piece of land adjoining to his land at Jacksons farm at the north end so far as not to predjudice the highway that goes to the ferry which land was laid out by those which appointed to do it at the town meeting when it was granted to him as appears upon Record in the town books of grant folio 27 which said piece of land is bounded westward & northward with the highway that leads to the ferry, Eastward by the land now in possession of Deacon William PARKER and Southward by his own land, containing by the highway upon the west 28 rods and by the highway upon the north 42 rods.

Know all men by these presents That I, Stephen DEWOLFE of Lyme in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for a valuable consideration that is to say Three pound which I doe acknowledge to have received at the unsealing and delivery here of have sold and alienated unto Samuell INGHAM of Say-brook in the County and Colony aforesaid a certain parcell of land being by estimation Sixteen Acres lyeing & being at Pataconke within the bounds of Say brook that was given me by my loveing Brother Edward DEWOLFE as appears by my deed of gift given under his hand and seal bearing date the 9th of June 1697, which percell of land formerly belonged to my Honered Father Beltazar DEWOLFFE late of Lyme deceased, The bounds of the land as appears in the records of Say-brook is Northward by the land of the heirs of Robert CODNER, Southward by the lands of the heirs of Mr. Richard ELY eastward by the highway and westward by the Common which percell of land together with all the priviledges & appertances thereunto belonging I doe acknowledge to have sold & enfeoffed unto the said Samuell INGHAM heir and his heirs executors administrators & assigns to have hold possess and enjoy forever without any let or molestation from me my heirs administrators or assigns for ever or any from by or under me or them, and doe by these presents avouch my selfe to have full power to make this conveyance and doe ingage myself my heirs administrators & assigns to vindicate the same against all persons whatsoever and unto the true performance of the premises unto the said Samuell INGHAM his heirs and assigns forever I do bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns as Witness my hand and seal this thirteenth day of July in the eleventh year of his Majesties Reign William the third King of England &c Anno 1699.
