Robert LAY Transactions

Land of Robert LAY in potopauge quarter bought of John LAY Senior his house and land adjoining to it of 24 akers abuting east upon the cove and west upon the Comons. abuttng north east and Southeast upon the land of will PRAT.

2. 24 Akers of upland bought of will HIDE and his house it with five Akers of boggi meadow abuteing east upon the cove and south and west upon the land of will PRAT and north upon the commons.

3. bought of will WALLER 50 Akers more or less lying in 8 mile meadow abuting east to the great River and west the cove north the land of John CLARK upon the south to the lands of William HIDE.

4. All the commonage in potopauge quarter belonging to the aforesaid 24 Akers bought of John LAY.

5. bought of will WALLER all his Right that he hath in potopauge quarter that ever is or shall be laid out hereafter.

6. bought of will HIDE of meadow in 8 mile meadow 6 acres abuteing east to the great River west upon the cove north to the lands of John WESTALL and West to the cove.

7. bought of John LAY in meadow at 8 mile Island 5 Akers abuteing east upon the great River west upon the cove north to the lands of John WESTALL and upon the south Mr. FENWICK land.

8. bought of will HIDE in 8 mile meadow 6 Ackers abuteing east upon the great River. upon the west the cove and upon Mr. FENWICK, upon the south will PRAT.

The marriage of Robert LAY and the firth of his Children He was married in the month of desember about the latter end in the year 1647. Phebe LAY was born the 5th of January in the year 50 Robert LAY his sone born the 6th of March in the year 54

Then was granted to Robert LAY at a town meeting a pasill of land and meadow as an adition to his home lott he bought of John POST it abuts to his hom lott on the east sid and to the of Goodman on the west this is about an Aker more or less
this is of
Robert LAY bought of William PARKER a pasill of meadow belonging to the estate of two hundred pound lying in eight mile meadow abuteing east to the great River west to the cove north and south to the land of John WESTALL.

Robert LAY bought of John POST the 24th of May 1664 so much land in the ox pasture as bellonged to the estate of a hundred pound pound and so much also in the towne commons as bellonged to the estate of on hundred pound as doth more fully appear in a deed of sale given under his hand bearing date with this Record.

In the oxpasture one hundred pounds proportion the land of Robert CODMAN R ___ was alienated and sold to Richard TOOSLAND who hath had quiet possession of the same for many years Richard TOOSLAND deceasing the first week in February 1673, as appears by his will make his wife sole executor of his estate wherefore the abovesaid lands belonging to Richard TOOSLAND doth now belong to unto the relict of Richard paying what ___ and legally as due from the estate the rest to remaine for her own use and dispoos according as ___ meet from time to time

The lands of Captain Thomas BULL (BALL)

All the abovesaid lands belonging to Richard TOOSLAND except six acres in the planting field which he sold before he died or by the relict of the said TOOSLAND sold and made over with all the privileges and emeneties belonging thereunto unto Captain Thomas BULL (BALL) of Hartford him and his quietly and peaceably to enjoy forever as doth more fully appear in a deed of sale under the said widow TOOSLAND hand bearing date the twenty one of February 1679.

The abovesaid lands that was sold by Dorothy TOOSLAND to Captain Thomas BULL (BALL) given to his son David BULL (BALL) with all the privileges and appurtenances belonging thereunto as doth appear by his last will and Testament bearing date this 20th day of August 1684.

Whereas I Joseph STANNARD of Saybrook Son and heir to Joseph STANNARD Late of Say-Brook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut New England having made a distribution of my fathers Estate among the sons and daughter of the deceased in which these lands following were and are by me the said Joseph STANNARD assigned made over and Confirmed all the Power Right and Authority that is in me, To my Loving Brother Will STANNARD being the fourth of the said Joseph STANNARD deceased. That is to say The one halfe of the second division of upland out of the Estate of our honored ffather Lying and being in Oyster River Quarter in Saybrook aforesaid Computed to be thirty seven acres and a halfe be it more or less Bounded South on the Country Road West and North on the Common Lands, and East upon the other of ye said division. Memorand#: it is this day mutually agreed and Concluded upon and between John STANNARD, and William STANNARD both of Say-Brook, That the land Left to them by their honored ffather in his Last Will Lying and being in Oyster River Quarter in Say-Brook, Is now Equally dividend and the bounds thereof stated, as followeth viz: that of the upland to be Divided between us. Lyeing in Length North and South It is agreed that John's Division should be and is bounded on the East and William's on the West-End of said Land as to the meadow It is agreed by and between us the said John & William STANNARD, That John's division should bound South on the Hamock, and West on Nunkalesett and William should be bounded on the North to the upland Excepting a small quantity being aboute an acre & a halfe Lyeing Southward with John's in said meadow, and whereas William STANNARD for me my heires and assigns doe Promise and Ingage a Convenient highway threw my part of meadow for the Conveniancy of my Brother John's Hay if he sees cause to Cart it that way and not by water.
